2 in 1 | My Dad

I remember when i was about 5 or 6 years old living in the suburbs of Auckland, New Zealand. I remember my Mum waking me up when the sun will still asleep. I told her the day before to wake me up the next time she drops my dad off to work. I hardly ever saw my dad when i was little because he was always working and i wanted to see him, even if it was only for a couple of minutes. I dragged my blanket with me to the car to keep me warm. The air was so cold i could see my breath like a white smoke and the cold had made the windows fog up... but it was worth it just to spend that time with him, even if it was just dropping him off to work.

It was a difficult transition when my mother passed almost 14 years ago.. but the memory of her is still present as if she never left our side. I was very close to her, she was my Best Friend. Growing up was difficult in many ways but my dad was always there for me and my siblings. He rose to the occasion and became a 2 in 1 parent. He is our Mother and our Father. He married my mum when he was in his 40's, so to carry the burden of raising young children at his age was an amazing achievement.
He would wake us up for school, make breakfast, make our lunches, Drive us to school and pick us up. While he was home he would do the laundry, the garden, shopping, maintenance around the house and made sure there was dinner for us when we come home from school. We would attend church as a family every sunday and when we come home he would make us a special dinner to eat around the table. He did this every time without fail.

My dad is now 74 years young and still raising us.. counselling us.. and continuing to be there for us. Even though we have our own lives, he will never stop being our Dad. He is the most humble, Loving, strong hearted, spiritual, independent man i know. I could write a whole novel on this man.. but i'm just gonna keep it simple and say that I am proud of him & there isn't anything i wouldn't do for him. Despite of what he had lost, he continues to fulfil his responsibility of what it means to be a Father.

He does not live for the material things in life but he lives for a much richer reason. To serve our heavenly father. The most simplest man yet so rich in heart.

I was going to wait for fathers day to write this post but everyday is a special occasion when it comes to this man.

Happy Monday =)

Papa Bear | iMac

If good things come in small packages then great things come in big packages... but size isn't the issue as it's the speed that makes this great investment worth it. I call this the Papa bear of the family. My camera Body is Mama bear of course and my lenses is the babies [with their own personalities]. This 27" iMAC computer is GEEKED UP, Meaning it has 16gb RAM which is super fast and awesome! My old laptop was only a  2gb RAM.. SLOWEST computer ever compared to this iMac. Importing photo's and post processing has become so much faster and more efficient.

[Wireless Keyboard and Mouse]

Thank you Steve Jobs for this amazing product.

My interior design is not up to scratch and my "so called workspace" needs more space. I'm definitely working on a few things and designing a workspace is definitely on my 'to do list' among other exciting things like designing a business website & blog... but im definitely taking baby steps making sure everything is next to perfect. Hope everyone had a FABULOUS easter weekend with your loved ones.

Family Portrait | Session

I had the opportunity to shoot a beautiful young family in a simple location, yet there smiles made the photographs amazing. This is there first family photo which made it more special. Mieka's son Malachi was such a joy to shoot with his gorgeous smile and adventurous personality. Here are a few photographs from the session.

Ray + Kay [Portrait Session]

A fun, fresh fabulous session with my sister Kayla & her partner Ray. This session was minutes before sunset which gave them a really nice glow. I really wanted to capture love in their own way and it came through in the photographs. We really had fun with this session which made them relaxed and confident in their poses.

[New Editions] 2 the |canon| Family.

Ok. I bought 3 lenses from Adorama and it arrived yesterday but unknowingly i missed the fine print where it stated that i had to pay a custom fee. ugh! Gosh, they want more money?! I'm seriously thinking of selling some items in my house just to put food on the table. haha! Im just being dramatic. I didn't have the cash on me so my poor babies are sitting in a big warehouse somewhere needing a home. "Don't worry, mama's coming!" Hopefully they will arrive in mint condition. This is the first time i've bought something over the 'Thousand' dollar mark online and im a lil paranoid. I'm super excited about the new glass, the new edition to the family. Canon 85mm 1.8, 50mm 1.4 & 100mm Macro 2.8. Can't wait to try these babies out!

Since the post looks better with a photograph, here's one.

Peace ya'll x

{Maggie + Ana} | Portrait Session

Had a Photographic tutorial with Alana Aston Photography a couple days ago. Met two beautiful girls Maggie and Ana. They were kind enough to smile and play with me for a little bit. Here are a few pictures taken at the park.

Siumalau + Esafe | Just Married!

I had an amazing time second shooting for KP Designs & Photography. Started off shooting the Groom and the Groomsmen getting dressed to kill. Looking like 007 in their swag suits. Afterward we headed to the Bride's house to get a few photographs of her and her girls [Ladies in red]. I must admit i wanted to shed a tear when i saw the bride come out in her dress. [I'm so Random?] The ceremony was laid back, short & sweet [as the bride requested] ;) The church pastor was a character with his uplifting sermons & the reception was all about the dance floor with great music by the local DJ Noiz. Overall, we were lucky enough to share that special day with two people who were celebrating their love.

Getting Ready.
Candid moments of the boys.

Traditional Tongan Tau'olunga.

I learnt so much shooting this wedding and i'll be looking forward to shoot my next wedding with new knowledge up my sleeve.
